Overview
As a multinational organisation, Global Directories considers sponsorships an important part of doing business. Our goal is to support and play an active, positive role in communities where we do business and work. Global Directories is committed to sponsoring a broad cross-section of interests. We have established guidelines to ensure that we make the best sponsorship decisions for the community and the company.
Definition of Sponsorship For Global Directories, sponsorship of an organisation is defined as support of a non-profit entity with financial means or in-kind contributions in return for goodwill and/or publicity to the company’s benefit, thereby adding value to the company as a whole.
Corporate sponsorships are not to be confused with taking part as a sponsor of an event or meeting run by a for-profit group in which we pay to receive the benefits of doing such.
Areas of Giving Global Directories will consider sponsorships that fall within the following areas:
Education (Grades K-12)
- Increase student interest & achievement
Health & Human Services
- Strengthen youth development
- Humanitarian and disaster relief
Community Revitalisation
- Improve employment skills
- Economic development activities that enhance the economy of the community
Environment
- Support efforts to sustain and improve the local environment
Arts & Culture
- Promote local culture or it’s historical significance
Sports teams or sporting programs connected to a school or youth group with developmental goals
- Enable commitment & discipline through sports
Criteria to Evaluate Requests In order to better evaluate the many sponsorship requests that the company receives, Global Directories has established formal sponsorship guidelines. The company will consider requests from non-profit organisations that meet the following requirements:
- Falls within the definition of Sponsorship above
- Falls within in one of the Giving Areas listed above
- Has provided documentation outlining the goals and objectives of the organisation and for the sponsorship value
- The organisation can provide documentation of finances
- The organisation can provide documentation of non-profit or charitable organisation status
- Provides value to our brand and/or goodwill to the company
- The organisation or specific underwriting opportunity has a significant reach in the community
Restrictions Global Directories does not consider financial support for the following:
- For-profit organisations
- Direct grants or individual sponsorships
- Individual endorsements
- Political organisations or political parties
- Religious organisations or programs that are purely denominational in purpose
- Organisations located outside the geographic areas that we operate
Format of Requests All requests for sponsorship must be submitted in writing to the Marketing Manager. The proposal is to include a description of the sponsorship and the organisation, a budget and a list of the benefits of the sponsorship. Additional information may be requested by the Marketing Manager particularly with regard to large sponsorship requests.
Timing of Requests Requests for sponsorships must be received at least 3 weeks prior to the required investment date or beginning of the sponsorship, longer for major initiatives.
Review of Requests The Marketing Department at Global Directories will be responsible for evaluating all requests for Corporate Sponsorships and such sponsorships will fall within the Marketing Department budget. Major multi-year sponsorships of $20,000 US annually or greater will be reviewed with Senior Management. Final approval and authorisation for disbursements of funds or kind will be the responsibility of the Director of Marketing. All requests will be considered without favouritism or bias, regardless of where or who the request is from.
