| Bonaire is one of four islands of the Netherlands Antilles made up of Saba, St. Eustatius, St. Martin, and Bonaire. Bonaire is a small island located in the southern Caribbean known for its pioneering role in the preservation of nature, in particular the preservation of the marine environment, and for its excellent scuba diving, snorkeling, and windsurfing. The island lies 30 miles from Curacao, 50 miles north of Venezuela, 86 miles east of Aruba, outside of the Caribbean hurricane belt. Bonaire is 24 miles long by 3-7 miles wide (112 square miles). |
